  1. Thank you so very much for this video!!! I am trying to find my first wig and I want something short because I too “run hot”. LOL. Also I have worn my hair short for about 8 years now so it is what I am used to. I’m 5’6″ and plus size and relate so much to what you shared here. And I never even thought about nape measurements so this was super helpful. Thank you for all you do and share. You make me feel less alone in this journey and I appreciate you so very much.

  2. Thank you Denise! This is so helpful! I buzz my hair so the nape isn’t my problem. I have to be sure of the sides and the front. With no sideburns, I need coverage there. I have yet to use root spray yet but will be trying this soon!

  3. I enjoy wearing my pixies! I’ve been growing my hair out too. I’ve been hoping it would take some room up in the cap but it so thin and looks so bad. I’ve been keeping the side of my nape buzzed because it’s so baby fine and thin and doesn’t contribute anything to my hair. I’ve been also doing and undercut of my nape to keep it from showing. My sis says that I have hair where I don’t need it! I’ll pass on Ignite because of the permatease. Tks!

    1. Your hair sounds like mine, baby fine, thin and slick. If I could swap the hair on the back of my head and nape to the front of my head I wouldn’t need a wig. The more mine grows out the worse it looks and makes my wigs slide around on my head, and itch. I wear It Stays to secure my wigs but doesn’t work as well with longer hair. Right now I cut my own hair which is a challenge trying to hold a mirror, clippers and look at the back of my head in a wall mirror. I’ve had more than a few oopsies cutting the back of my hair. I want to get it professionally cut but hate to spend money on something no one is going to see. Then there’s also going in a public place and taking off my wig or cap in front of everyone. I’m still very conscious of my hair loss and uncomfortable letting others see me without a wig or cap.

  4. Thanks for this video. While I really like some of the shorter styles, with a round face I’m hesitant to wear them as I’m afraid I’d look like a big ball!

  5. The alopecia I have has caused receding all around my hairline front to back – it does make wig wearing very simple though! So many good tips on your channel Denise. I just took delivery of my firm hold wig spray you told us about – will be testing it out next week as the forecast is for hot weather.

  6. I’ve been facing the fact that frog the first time, I NEED a short wig, which is hard for me because I have never had short hair before losing it, but don’t feel feminine in short hair. After tons of research, Go To Style is the only one I feel looks feminine enough in the front and has the minimum length at the nape I need for me personally and enough length in back to do a messy fun look. It has taken me a long time to settle on one and its important due to my also being almost completely confined to a hospital bed. Now its finding one I can afford. With the medical costs, even a wonderful deal I found for $150, may as well been a million. If you could !rep me in your prayers Denise, Im putting it in His hands cause that’s the only way it’ll happen. This was a great video and helped me to be sure I had made the right choice. God bless my sister!

    1. I really hope you don’t mind my opinion. I have been in the hospital a few times with a wig the heat friendly synthetics did not do to well being in bed compared to a standard synthetic. Now once I was home and feeling better I was able to apply heat to the heat friendly and get it looking better but after just 24 hrs in bed it was looking rough. Everyone has different experiences but I wanted to share mine. Another option if you haven’t tried it is something a little longer than shoulder length put in a low pony tail. I have actually found I like that better than short because I don’t even have to comb it ofter if unwell. If you haven’t yet sign up for notifications from namebrandwigs or wig outlet. Make sure its a reputable site. Namebrandwigs sometimes marks their clearance section down even further and wig outlet has a weekly spotlight where certain wigs are heavily reduced

    2. I totally agree with J F1’s comment about synthetic wigs, and wearing a longer style tied back. I would consider a plait too, it will help a lot with damage from the pillows etc. If took me a while to really understand that wigs are made from plastic, the fibres are thin and delicate, they don’t stand up to friction very well. Think of buying a thin acrylic top and look at it after wearing for a week straight. It will have stretched, rubbed and pilled, it won’t look new any more. Wigs are the same, but worse! Heat Defiant wigs even more so.

  7. You look super cute in short styles. I love the way some look but I’m not quite ready to go real short yet. I have a long narrow face and not sure how they will look. I’m going to gradually cut my bio hair shorter and shorter until I get used to it short. Thanks for all the great videos!

  8. Just wanted to add that I found Juliet from Envy has a similar style profile to Go to Style. It has a bit more length in back and a lower nape and a nice graduated A line on the front and sides. Also Monika by Estetica is a cutie too.

  9. Such great info, Denise! Some reviewers do not cover that neckline information, and you are correct – that is super helpful! Thank you! ❤️

  10. I’d love for you to collaborate with other wig educators and compile a list of ALL the low density wigs in all the brands, giving them a rating of No permatease, Low, and Medium permatease. Then list them in similar styles (perhaps in alghabetical order so that there is no ‘favouritism’ attached to a particular style. You and your colleagues have access to so many wigs, and have a really good handle on the wig construction so can give us an educated and unbiased opinion.

    1. Gosh, what a fun but time consuming project! If I worked for a wig retailer I would TOTALLY do this as a service to our customers…. the one problem I see is that this is a bit of subjective thing… no permatease is one thing, but rating it low, medium, or high is tough to quantify and I’m not sure everyone would see it the same. What a great thing for the MANUFACTURERS to provide, though… wonder why they don’t even mention it?

  11. This is a great video and was so timely for me since I was looking at shorter wigs since it’s SO HOT this summer. I bought Easy Does It by RW from a wig sister to try, and your video helped me evaluate it since I also have a lower hairline in the back. I think it’s going to work well for me since it’s got good coverage on the sides – something I would have never thought to check before purchasing a short style. Thanks!!

  12. I have been wanting to buy a short wig. Thanks for telling us to be careful about bio hair showing on the sides.Your video has been very helpful, thanks.

  13. Super helpful Denise! You have saved me so much stress of returning wigs due to too short. I had no idea. Well done!!!
